Reverse Phone Search
What it is: A reverse phone search is the opposite of lookup up somebody in the white pages. Instead of searching by their name, you search by their phone number. There are plenty of reasons why people may need to do a reverse phone search. Perhaps they have noticed an unknown number calling them or their family and they are curious about who it belongs to. Or, maybe they are doing a background check on somebody, and they need to verify all the personal information the person has given.
Whatever the reason, there are a couple ways to go about doing a reverse phone search. The first way is free, and simply involves searching a few sites on the internet using the phone number. Examples of such sites are google.com and whitepages.com.
You may have some success doing this if the number is part of the plain old telephone service (POTS). If however, the number is unlisted, or a mobile/cellular number none of the free services will work.
The reason your search will fail is that no central registry of cell phone data exists in the US. There are however services that buy portions of the number and customer data from the various carriers and make them available to you for a fee. So if your initial search is unsuccessful, it's time to turn to one the many reverse phone search providers.
If you want to see what initial results you get back from one of these services are, simply put the number you are searching for in the box above and click 'Search Now'. You will get an initial report, and the option to get the full results if you so desire.
